Classical pianist Maurizio Pollini will be performing a number of well-known compositions at a performance in Rome next month.

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - January 20th, 2012 - Rome's Auditorium Parco Della Musica will play host to a classical concert by the renowned pianist Maurizio Pollini in February 2012.

Taking place at the Sala Santa Cecilia at 20:30 local time on Wednesday February 22nd, the concert will see the musician performing a number of famous pieces from Chopin and Liszt.

Among the pieces on the programme are the likes of Chopin's Polonaise Fantasie and 2 Nocturnes, as well as Liszt's La lugubre gondola and Nuages gris.

Pollini has been studying piano since the age of 13 and was trained by teachers such as Carlo Vidusso, winning the International Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition and the International Chopin Piano Competition in his earlier years.

Since then, he has toured the world and become internationally recognised for his work with music label Deutsche Grammophon, as well as claiming prestigious accolades such as a Grammy and the Praemium Imperiale.
