2013 United States Adaptive Alpine National Championships coming to New Hampshire

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - January 12th, 2012 - Waterville Valley N.H. (January 12, 2012) Adaptive ski racers completed three days of men and women’s competitions with two slalom events today on the Waterville Valley Resort World Cup racing trail. The 2012 Adaptive Alpine National Ski Championships showcased talented disabled athletes from the United States, Canada, Chile, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland and New Zealand.

Men and women racers competed in Giant Slalom and Slalom events in three different categories: Competitors who are visually impaired; Standing skiers who may have lost a leg or suffered lower extremity disability as the result of disease; and sitting skiers who ride on devices called sitz- skis for racers who are double leg amputees or have suffered paralysis below the waist.  

Bob Fries, President of Waterville Valley Ski Resort said, “We were honored and pleased to host this important event. All of these athletes are incredibility talented and show such determination in both practice and the races that it becomes an inspiration to all of us.”

United States Olympic Committee Events Director, Matt Cramer added, “On behalf of the U.S.O.C. and all the athletes and coaches, we would like to thank the Waterville Valley Ski Resort and the WVBBTS Ski Club for hosting and running a very professional three day event. Based on this years support and event hosting experience the U.S.O.C has awarded the 2013 United States Adaptive Alpine National Championships to the Waterville Valley Ski Resort for next January.”
