Eva Longoria, Andy Garcia and Forest Whitaker visit the DR Cuban-born actor Andy Garcia and his American colleagues Eva Longoria and Forest Whitaker recently visited the Dominican Republic to participate in the filming of the action thriller “The Truth,” directed by Canadian Damien Lee.

The film also featured the Canadian-American actor Kim Coates, Canadians Deborah Kara Unger, Kevin Durand and Bostick Devon, as well as Steven Bauer, the Cuban-American actor.
Filming took place in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Section, declared by UNESCO as a Patrimony of Humanity. Shooting also took place in the town of Haina, situated some 20 kilometers west of the capital city.
Filming of “The Truth” moved to the Dominican Republic after shooting was completed in Canada, explained Todd Zeller, publicist for the film.
In the film Andy Garcia plays a former CIA agent turned anchor for a television political program.
He is hired as spokesperson by a company who wants the massacre of villagers in a South American country to be kept secret.
Ellis Perez, president of the Dominican Film Industry, said that “this is the first foreign film that makes use of tax incentives and other facilities offered by the Dominican Republic’s new law on films.”
