FINDING SKI CHALETS IN FRANCE
Industry: Ski

Actually it’s not hard to find ski chalets in France, just type ‘Ski Chalets France’ into your favorite internet search engine and you should get something like 16 million results to choose from! How do we sort out the powder from the ice?

(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDON - December 6th, 2011 - Before you settle down with a fresh cup of coffee and leaf through the pile of brochures, laptop fired up and ready for action, pick up your trusty pen and paper. It’s vital to decide what you want from your ski chalet holiday in France in order to get the best out of it.

There are just so many providers of ski chalet in France that it is very easy to get distracted from your real purpose: to book the best ski or snowboard holiday for you. Before you start you have to work out what the group wants from it’s holiday, are they all skiers, are there snowboarders, what are their levels, how many need lessons, are there any dietary considerations, what is the mix of party animals to chalet lovers? The list may seem endless, but for the best, most harmonious ski holiday these questions should be asked.

Most of the main French, Austrian and Italian alpine ski areas offer a good variety of terrain, and can accommodate all levels of skier and boarder. However, some ski chalets can be a distance from ski school meeting points, or the centre of town, so it is important to really know who wants what.

Ski holidays Tignes have the amazing Espace Killy which offers everything that a skier or snowboarder would want. However, there are few chalets in the main areas (Lavachet, Le Lac and Val Claret). Those looking to combine the joys of the large ski area with a real chalet holiday in France may consider places such as Tignes les Brevieres.

Les Brevieres is an excellent example of the more traditional village which has manage to combine that with access to truly memorable skiing. As the original village of Tignes, Les Brevieres links directly into the Espace Killy via the Sache lift, as well as the chairlift to Les Boisses (next to the dam). The ‘La Sache’ run is actually one of Tignes’ best, bordering the national forest and relatively crowd free.

Some tour operators offer vehicles to ferry their clients from the more outlying chalets, but many resorts do have a good shuttle bus service. The proximity to ski sloes is usually a major plus point for a ski chalet, with distance to the Apres scene sometimes less of a consideration. Te newly refurbished and redsigned Chalet Nyon in Morzine is a prime example of this type of ski holidays france. It is virtually ski-to-door, with the Pointe de Nyon lift less than 100metres away, giving access to the bes of the local area’s skiing and snowboarding.

Whether it’s the skiing, the après ski, the family or the group ski holiday you are looking to book, you can be sure that there is a ski chalet in France made just for you. The art is knowing what you want and where to look. Happy hunting!
